  1. Well...if you want to have new dungeons, items, sidequests, and new areas to explore, that is a goal for most mods on here. But, do you have ideas for your dungeons, items, sidequests, and new areas? I'd like to see an outline of what you have planned, rather than just a generalization. Do you have experience with making these things, or are you new to the process? If you are, I suggest checking out the Tutorial thread here and see what you might be interested in starting first.
  2. ^ All of that. You always want to spell out your ideas, what you may have started, your experience in what you can and cannot do, things of that sort.
  3. Once again, when I use TIG, it imports fine into SO, there's no problem with that. But for some reason, when I inject it into the rom, Nemu doesn't load the rom for me, it just instantly crashes, it's not like the rom is corrupted, it's just nemu crashes. I can try it again, and I don't mean to run newbies away, but I can see if it works again for me. It could be my computer too--it doesn't rip textures either in the normal way, so I have a strange way of deal with some stuff. I'll be sure to give it another go though, apologies if I've come across as rude about it, I don't want to run people away from it if it works for them.
  4. I like the Okami style cell shade too, very nice look.
  5. No, I tried it multiple times. And I didn't say it was an error with SO, more with sketchup.
  6. I'm not sure what causes it. The exporter is the only thing I changed when all of a sudden Nemu just refused to open the rom I injected. I used the original sketchup exporter and used the same clean copy rom I injected, and it worked. *shrug*
  7. I thought people might be interested in seeing the thought process, dropped ideas, and beta screenshots of the game during it's development time. We all like stuff like this, and now that the game is released, well...it's nice to have a little archive in one post, rather than shifting through the main thread. There's also stuff not talked about on this forum either. First, let's go over the beta stuff that I have in screenshot form. Ingo was originally in the game. Here's his original text and how it fit into the story: However, during the course of the game, I had the idea that I might be able to let players choose between Epona, or the other horse (which I dubbed Brownie). I couldn't get to this idea in time, or figure out how to get it to work, as I didn't know at the time the brown horse had another object in the area that had to be loaded. So Ingo is sort of shoved off into one corner of the Lon Lon Ranch map. The broken Door of Time looked really crappy. Some of you might remember this, as it was posted somewhere else on the forums, but it was lovingly pointed out that yes, this looks really bad. As if Ganondorf didn't want to break the door, but placed it gently to the side. So, it was changed to the current form, using Ganon rubble from the final battle. Different way of accessing Forest Temple. Before I had worked out exactly how dungeon flags worked, I had put up these to block the way and indicate the hammer had to be used. However, they caused a door to become unlocked in the temple, and I wasn't sure how to change it at the time, so I turned the regular switch into a rusted switch to still have the same hammer usage, but to not mess with the flags that way, as I was only changing the type of switch. I think it looks better with the rusted switch, it doesn't stand out as much and fits better with the theme. Black Blocks in Dampe's Grave. My original idea was to have Adult Link have to push blocks out of the way. Since he can't push blocks without Goron Bracelet, this would prevent access to Dampe easily. However, the blocks were very glitchy and hard to place, so I then changed it to a boulder/bomb flower mix outside of the grave. There was a lot more dumb dialogue. Voyager (before it was called Voyager) was originally going to be a straight comedy text edit. You can still tell in the earlier Kokiri Forest dialogue with Saria's "Google!" and the Deku Tree Sprout saying "this dost sucketh". Those were too funny to me to get rid of. Same with the signs in the area. Tunic colours were updated. Thanks to Spire, we got some new hip colours, and everyone LOVES the purple tunic. Very fashionable all around. Things don't always work. I wanted to put something in Link's house that would be a prize after getting golden gauntlets. You can actually still see the rock before the Forest Temple is cleared out, but it disappears after the temple completion, due to it being in the object set that changes. The cutscene was always very glitchy anyway, and so it was cut. I had fire. I don't know where it went, it disappeared in one of the edits I did, and I didn't notice until too late. Progression shots. Now, for things that don't have pictures. The grottos were going to have a warp system. I was saddened by the fact that Serenade of Water was never learned, due to Shiek's coding checking for Iron Boots in the Ice Cavern, so I wanted to use the grottos as a warp system around the field. I changed the hole near Kakariko Village to impliment this, but I seriously messed up the grottos and couldn't figure out what I did or how to fix it. So, many of them changed to the hole you get your sword at. I realized I was messing with stuff I didn't know about, so I didn't even touch it after that. This is all I can think of at the moment, but I do plan to update this in the future of things I find/thought about doing. Hope you guys enjoyed this little window into Voyager during development.
  8. Yeah, I'm not sure why it isn't working other than the exporter too. I forgot about that part. I have better luck using the one with sketchup though, the other one kills my rom.
  9. Like I said, just make sure you're using v 0.6 of sharp, triangulate your faces by going to file > export > 3d model > options (underneath export/cancel).
  10. Okay, I took a look at it. There's a few things wrong with it, but it imports correctly into SO for me. But, when I imported it: I took all the textures off of it and all your faces need to be reversed. The picture above shows the difference in colour you want. You want pure white when you look straight at it. The map imported fine into the SO and when I injected it into the rom, and you fall right through, I was confused for a moment. But yep, it imports fine in mine, just make sure you're picking the same thing for the collision model (check the outdoor scene so you can see what you are doing), then go to rooms, add room, and make sure you pick the correct obj file. You want the same obj file for both. Make sure your triangulating faces is checked in the options when you export the obj model as well. EDIT: In order to make sure you have collision on both sides of the house, make a rectangle, then another one inside it, then use the push/pull to have a bit of thickness to it. That way you won't pop through the wall one one side. Make sure all your sides are white. Example:
  11. I don't even know what that was XD
  12. Could be your map is too big (or too high a polygon count), that's usually the issue I have when I get that error. If you upload the sketchup file, or a pic of it, we could take a look at it and see.
  13. You doing DC as adult or child? It's meant to be done as a child.
  14. The first two are just the way loading zones work. I'd have to put in another set of objects to make it look seamless, and I think people can handle walking around the rubble. You might be doing DC backwards. I'll check on that though. I know about the Lon Lon Ranch issue as well. If people want to use that to get Epona, then go ahead. From what I know (and my skill level is very small) the adult reset cannot be changed. The game always puts bombs on your C-down when you go adult, and this is shown when people do DOT skip. I assume you'd have to do a lot of coding stuff to get that otherwise. I didn't see it as an issue for anyone, so...I didn't bother with it. I personally think that it's a good reminder for people they're supposed to look for bombs and go back. Everyone seems to ignore Shiek's advice to get what you came for and go, but ah well. These are very small aesthetic issues, but I shall keep things like this in mind for future projects.. I'm more concerned about gamebreaking things like not getting light medallions, things of that sort, so you really don't have to tell more stuff like this if it doesn't effect gameplay.
  15. Anything with Loreena Mckennitt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tU_pKXajJq4
  16. They might get soggy that way though unless I just use dry ingredients. I'll have to experiment.
  17. All of these sound pretty good, thanks for the ideas. I'm not one for Gumbo, my grandparents always made that, and it was pretty spicy from what I remember. I love sweet tea, and yeah, everyone in the south makes it different. I'll have to see if I can get my husband to each chicken pot pie, I really like it, but he hates pie crust. I wonder if I could use biscuit mix instead of crust...I'll have to try that one day and see how it comes out. It'll be smooshier, but might not taste bad. Yeah, for spaghetti, I always buy angel hair wheat noodles. Really yummy, that's what I grew up on. That and whole wheat bread. We do eat a LOT of rice, and I don't skimp on rice either. Rice and olive oil are probably my most expensive kitchen necessities. I get Jasmine Rice and shortgrain sushi rice for occasional sushi (fake sushi, I fill it with shrimp and cooked fish).
  18. For those of you who cook, either for your family or if you're on your own, I need some ideas. I've seriously got to update my cooking skills with cheap, easy to make food that has some semblance of health. Fresh veggies are out--they're too expensive for the one paycheck coming in. I need frozen foods, unfortunately. My main meals I have is a lot of chicken. Chicken is pretty inexpensive when I get it frozen in 5lb bags, and it lasts a while. Meat is scarce, mainly because me and my husband don't eat a lot of it, except when I make burgers or tacos. We like chicken a whole lot more. So if you buy food for the house or something, or have a great recipe that doesn't take 4,000 ingredients (seriously, I tried looking online, and it's crazy the amount of stuff you need for something), please let me know. I'm just trying to make the kitchen fun again.
  19. To show off the process of the music, James has posted up a blog he will be updating for the creative process. Should check it out, looks very interesting! http://jamesandrewharris.wordpress.com/2013/05/10/composition-portfolio-post-1/
  20. You have to set it up properly. Go here http://pastebin.com/uKd83hCG Or read the wonderful readme I've provided with the download.
  21. 5/9/2013 Added Jack Walker's tutorial on changing custom sounds in OOT. Also added the N64 Sound Tools and TableDesign and Adpcmenc. Video Tutorial for it will be added later, and updated on this post.
  22. You are a wonderful person, I'm going to straight up add this to the tutorial thread. I love contributions!
  23. The wix website has been updated with a text guide--you can choose to have just hints, or a straight walkthrough. I've also added a setting up section for folks, and information for speedrunners. http://lionofjudah6.wix.com/zeldavoyageroftime
  24. I worked in the clothing section (all four sections) and the baby section when I worked at Wally World. People are slobs, seriously. Just lift up a shirt and throw it back down, don't even attempt to fold it back. At least one thing I took away from that job is I know how to fold a damn shirt. My husband annoys the crap out of me because he folds shirt all wonky, and I'm all "no...it goes this way, this isn't hard." I eventually gave up and just do all the folding, because it bugs me otherwise. He helps by actually doing the act of the laundry though--putting into the machine, carrying it up and down the stairs. He hates the folding part. I hate the loading part. So it works out. It's odd with dishes, he likes the washing part and hates the putting away part. To me that's the easiest part.
  25. My mom tried to get me to watch it. I like Sliders better. QL is okay, but it was a bit boring for me back then. If I tried it again today, I might like it.
