  1. I really hope you're not expecting too much. As you may or may not know, ZB2 has 2 additional characters to play as. The demo will feature a basic overworld for the new characters. Then Link gets a single dungeon to try out. No plot to speak of will be featured in demo 1, just 2 overworlds and a temple. Also, thanks for all the positive feed back. Here's all I have left of the pics of z64offline's levels. The work on the demo is coming fast and furious. Punk7890 only got back in touch today, but did 2 of the required 3 new over world themes already. Also, I forgot to credit MrBojangles. He's been remixing Jason777's light temple into something that better fits into the ZB2 plot. I'm gonna try to set a scheduled for updates. I'm also thinking about giving ZB2 it's own blog and youtube channel. Lastly, I'm needing other types of talents. Including more "official" art. I also need voice work for the youtube video. I've got an easy concept to record. Just a handful of lines to make the video more emotional. The videos will show footage of ZB2 not in the demo, and will give clues to the plot. More details, after I see if there is interest. I'll be needing help on the videos, since this is my first youtube productions. So guys if you think you sound like Link, or Rauru, and girls if you think you can do a Gerudo voice, or the prized role of Zelda her self, let me know.
  2. Thanks for the positive feed back. Here are a few random pics. Many many thanks to those contributing maps. MelonSpeedruns is the top contributor so far. Sairugoth, Jason777, z64offline, haddock, are just SOME of the others. If I left you out, and you contributed something rest assured you will be credited in the demo. No one will go uncredited. I've already got a lot of maps, but I still need more. I don't have enough temples. Just PM me if you want in, I'm taking anything i can get. Even if I don't use your maps(unlikely) you'll still get credits just for submitting one. ZB2 will be finished, and it will kick ass. How much ass it kicks is up to everyone who puts into the project. Thanks for all the support. john_smith_account UPDATE: Even *MORE* pics. These are the work of z64offline, who's skill in map making is top notch as you can see. Later, I will *re*-post some of the old pics from my maps. My temple gets no preview since it's a hold back for the demo. But no worries, the demo is coming fast than ever to try to keep critics quiet.
  3. UPDATE: (09/12/2014) ============================================================================ I'll start a second topic for ZB2's staff. For now I feel it necessary to highlight 2 members who have being doing there part, even while I was distracted. JSA and MelonSpeedruns : Head of production punk7890 : Head of music I've actually not been puling my own weight on the project. MelonSpeedrun and punk7890 have been turned in everything I requested from them, and asking when I'm going to catch up. As such, I'm going to start spending more time on ZB2 myself, working toward getting the demo out as soon as I can while making sure the quality doesn't suffer. Thanks for everyone who keeps supporting me, and this project. I assured you it will get done, and I still assure you. Your work will not be in vein. Every word of encoragement has helped. I'd like to close with my favorite one, the one that really picked up my spirits. Mine map making skills... not so much, but the people's helping me do. Thanks JSA Now, back to the topic. ============================================================================ Hello all. And so contiunes the drama of "the-zelda-mod-that-wouldn't-die" ZB2 has has it's share of misfortune. Personal problems have pleagued a few of the volunteers. People come, and people go for personal reasons, and I failed to meet a self inposed deadline about 2 weeks ago. However, I've had a big stroke of luck recently. If you go to youtube and search "Zelda's" you get the following results... Zelda's Birthday is now in the top 5 for Zelda's videos! AttackingTuacans has a fairly popular Youtube channel. And though his review isn't all positive(read: don't think he liked it), It is on it's way to 60k views since june. However fame is fleeting on the internet. The Zelda modding community is someone divided, so it's hard to choose a place to beg for talent to join a mod, and teach said talent how to make useable sumissions for a mod. However, with help from SoD, and CloudMax I've seen where I've been going wrong in asking for help, and am starting new(yes again.) with simpler requests anyone can play by. So this is the FINAL reinteration of the ZB2 project. I will get a demo out soon to give youtube(and you) something to judge the project by. So, if you're already working on something for ZB2, keep doing so. But if you want to join, and don't know what to do PM me. I'm also in need of a chat room to work out of. Not a ZB2 only room, but something where zelda modding(and moders) will feel at home. So let get to work at making Zelda's Birthday 2 the first of the new mods(built with our better tools, and more complete knowlege), and the first complete community mod to boot. john_smith_account Credits: This is a W.I.P. so don't be offended if you're doing something for the project but are not on here yet. Music: Punk7890 HeavyZ
  4. Niiiiiiiicccce! Your* name and project came up in chat just the other day. It's good to see your mod is still in production, and looking FABULOUS!
  5. One wonders with a project this promising looking, if there will be any future at all in Moding the ROM.
  6. Whatever tool comes after ZAP2.5 will aim to do this. I pitched the idea of making the ZLE2 series' successor an open source, co-operative effort. One of the ideas is that ZAP3 will attach to tools like Scene Navi, or UoT copy the values out, and load them in game to preview the setups. Thats if I can get back to coding.
  7. *MUST* have! As you know, I'm a HUGE fan of this thing. I've had v3_fix fail to export Hyrule Field on my system. I'm looking forward to the new releases if they are coming. In the mean time, would you mind posting an OBJ and MTL for Hyrule Field? Theres another guy who asked for it from me, and I could not get it. But I was wondering why also. Is it the special textures like the ranch windows that change color at night? If so, those have been a pain in my side for some time. Long ago when I was trying to port OoT to Master Quest is when I first noticed the special textures like the windows. OZMAV handled them by loading in a plain colored texture as a place holder. I was wondering how it's handled here.
  8. Cool! Am I the only one who thinks of the carnival "ring the bell" game? Honestly ZEY looks to be not only one of the best Zelda Mods, or even best N64 mods, but might very well end up being one of the greatest ROM Hacks ever.
  9. What we need now is to get the band back together...so to speak. We need Flotonic to return and tweak Hylian ToolBox now that Model2F3DEX2 is open source. Flotonic, if you read this and you require the community to do something for you to be able to return, speak now or forever hold your peace. And speaking of HeavyZ, where is the Maestro of Zelda modding hiding these days?
  10. #1 Too dumb? Not buying it. I've seen your work, you're plenty smart. #2 New tool? Link please? Thanks for the info. Is this because of the back culling issue? I noticed there was no back culling on Hylian Toolbox. And thanks for replying.
  11. Fire Temple DEMO : https://www.sendspace.com/file/3gy47o Fire Temple resource files : https://www.sendspace.com/file/km1es4 Directions: Apply the Patch using PPF-o-matic to the Debug ROM. Choose Map 119 from Map Select. I've been trying to get interest going in map building for sometime now. There has been a strange misconception that the existing tools have errors in them, and that why maps aren't being made. To refute this, I used only the existing tools to convert existing maps to Google SketchUp, and them build them. Senior members, we have to do better! I intend on putting out some tutorials soon. As of right now, the member who offered to help has been busy with real life. As soon as he makes it back, it should only take a few hours to put out a set of videos which will make the existing tools more accessible to new comers. Credits: Flotonic, for Hylian Toolbox, and for all his dedication to the community over the years. TIG - For his Import and Export Scripts SoD - For his python based Blende 3d import scripts XDaniel - Sharp Ocarina, and Model2n64. Special Thanks to: Shadow Fire for the forums. And yes, Zelda's Birthday 2 is still in production. john_smith_account
  12. Welcome to the forums, I hope you enjoy your time here.
  13. Phenomenal! Is there any chance you will make another tool for us less talented folk to be able to do this also?
  14. I was AWOL for awhile. Found God, now I'm back.
  15. Ok, this is *not* a new pick up, I hope the Staff don't smite me for that. But it's the pride of my very Otaku collection. It was rare when I got it, but it's lost a lot of value since. I tired to bribe XDaniel with with it once, and failed.
  16. We've ended up recreating the same ideas more than a few times in Zelda modding. I find it no less impressive for it to be done by more than one person, it just means that clever ideas get dreamed up again and again by clever folks. That said, I wish I thought of this one. Good job, looking forward to playing the mod to try them.
  17. Hey NP Shadow, we all have lives. We understand. I love the new logo. It's just in time for the first demo I hope to have out very soon.
  18. Your work is always amazing. Modding wouldn't be nearly as advanced as it is without your work Three. I can't wait to see how people make use of this stuff. I know that ZB2 is going to be a lot better for it.
  19. They always say great minds think alike. Very nice. Mine is going to be more bare bones. Like a few common door way set ups, which you can retexture as needed. The doorways have invisible collisions, meaning they are already set up for a door actor, and are modded after OZMAVr76 rips. My aim is ease of use, the doorways have a center line allowing the modder to place them with great precision. All that said, as usual your version make mine look like a preschoolers work. Maybe it would be better if we worked together, if you don't mind coming down to my level.
  20. My PC was recently hacked. I lost all the 2014 work I did on ZB2. I don't mind 99% of it, but I lost the ZB2 logo. I loved that logo, it was Perfect. If anyone has the logo, or at least pics from the topic so I can try to recreate it. I'll be in your debt. UPDATE: I have the original version of the Logo, but I'll need the 2 other logo submissions to finish to borrow details from to complete the finished version. RESOLVED: CDi-Fails found the old logo. He then offered to make a much better version of it! The new one kicks so much ass. I'm very please, and can't wait to show it off. UNRESOLVED: Happened AGAIN. This time MelonSpeedrun has been trusted with current back ups of the entire project. I'm gonna get with CloudMax later and have him help me get a free, secure cloud based solution for ZB2. RE-RESOLVED: Found it. Thanks.
  21. OMG, your maps always look so very good!!! I always feel like I have to really push my own project further when I see your work. Your discarded map are now a part of ZB2. Anyone else doing a project should consider adding them to their own projects. You don't get maps of the quality every day.
  22. May 30th, 2014 This is it, the development weekend for ZB2 that replaces the Ill fated weekend from weeks ago. I've got plenty of time on my hands, and all new sets of resources. Short Term Plans: Playable demos (Coming soon!) Unlike other projects, ZB2 is going to have playable previews. I'm going to try very hard to have one out this week. Long Term Plans: Lack of Temple Submissions: ZB2 development is going to be spread out to a few other pages. The reason is I've not gotten temple submissions yet. I've dropped the requirements as low as I possibly can. All I ask for now is a complete Google SketchUp file. That is all. I will do all the conversion work myself. A second team later will do the actor placement. To cope with the problem, I'm developing complete temple making kits. The kits will include video tutorials, and written support documents. The kit will also come with a full set of tools. A set of templates and common OoT models, such as doorways, link models, and houses will come with the kit too. There will be nothing to search for, no extra information. Beginners will be able to take the tutorials and tools and be making dungeons in minutes. Expanding the project to other communities: There just aren't enough map developers on GCN. At least not ones with the time/intrest to submit something for ZB2. There *might* not even be enough interest in map making in the Zelda communities as a whole. I know there are good map makers out there. Take a gander at some of the multi-player maps turned out for every FPS imaginable and you'll there are people who don't mind spending days in 3D modeling software to try to turn out something cool. I'm first going to try releasing some video tutorials for Google Sketchup, and a texture pack. I'm also going to expand requests to Zelda.net, a Zelda fan game site, and some normal Zelda forums. If that fails, I'll see find there are map makers else where. Reminder of what makes ZB2 different. ZB2 is a different type of Zelda mod. It's is an open project. The goal is to make the best Zelda mod not by hand picking the very best modders on the net, but by opening a topic and asking for help with it. The goal has also been to make a mod that's guaranteed to be finished. Nothing worse than working your butt off to help out with a project, only for your submissions to be wasted cause the project is never finished. You really want a chance to show off? Here it is. Can't mod, but always wanted to get your name on a mod? I'll make this as easy as it gets. Yes, it's gonna be more work than texture pack, but not too much more. You can make a single dungeon room in literally 5 minutes or less. (If you're *still* wanting to do textures, then submit them for other temple makers to use.) The project is still the same as day 1. The goals are still the same as when I started ZB1 years ago. ZB1 succeeded, and this one will too. The only goal I had to drop was the goal to use the mod to support a single forum, or community. I received zero interest in making it an official project in any one give community. In the end this turned out to be a good thing, since it was a major hindrance to the project. So I don't mind losing that one goal. In closing... Look for the playable demos soon. Beyond that, look for the new topic with videos and pics. If you want to help PM me. Even if you've never did any modding before, I'll get you the software, and help that will you have you making maps in no time. Just ask before you make anything please. I've had to turn down many maps that didn't fit in the game. Also, ask for help. The worse part is, I've had to discard some really killer maps that were so full of errors, they could not be repaired. There are some basics to map making which will take you seconds to read and understand. There is a right way and wrong way to make maps. Ask first to avoid everyone being disappointed. Looking forward to making real progress this time. Thank you. john_smith_account
