  1. Woah, that's HUGE!! And during the day yet. XD I've seen them get huge like that if you defeat enough of them at night but unless you use a modifier, you never see them get that huge. I've had them get as huge as Hyrule Castle using a Gameshark code allowing it to stay night forever.
  2. Windows 95 could be having an issue with the add on IDE controller. Truthfully I've never really worked with them so I can't be of much use there. My very first computer I got in 2001 was from 1994 or 95 I believe it was, and it had a PS/1 keyboard port (The big one) and just a serial port for a mouse. It had a socket 7 processor, a 90MHz original Pentium and it came with Windows 95 and a blistering huge hard drive at 600MBs. It was a Seagate. But the computer itself was a custom machine and bare bones at that. It had a separate video card, an Alliance Promotion 2MB graphics card. As for your mouse issue, maybe the computer is too old for the adapter to work? I wouldn't think this would be an issue but maybe it doesn't receive the right signal from the adapter. It's another issue hard for me to diagnose. As for the RAM, SIMM RAM is a bit picky I've noticed. I have a bunch of it along with an HP Vectra XA which still utilizes it and I have two 32MB sticks that I put in there, but it seems to recognize them as 16MBs a piece instead. What's even funnier is that if I put a 32MB and 16MB in together, then the full amount registers which I think is around 140MBs or so. But usually with SIMM RAM, you need to install them in pairs otherwise you run into issues. Maybe your board is limited to a certain amount of RAM. Have you tried flashing the BIOS at all? What kind of BIOS does it use? It almost sounds like it could be a Phoenix since Award has been the same for years and shows plenty of information on startup. But if at all possible, I would make sure the BIOS is up to date as far as it can go which sometimes allows you to use more RAM or other fixes, which I'm sure you probably know already. Also, there is FPM RAM which a few of your sticks might be and maybe it can't handle those either. That's the fun of working on old computers! I've noticed newer PCs from the early 2000s and up are generally easy to work on and usually almost anything goes. But with older machines, they can get so picky as far as RAM and hard drive sizes go. My HP Vectra XA is so picky that it doesn't like when I replace the add on graphics card. It's a 1MB or 2MB Matrox Millennium I believe and even if I put a newer one in that's 8MBs, the machine acts up. I've never seen anything like it. In fact if you install Windows 2000 or Windows XP on it with the newer graphics card, as soon as a sound tries to play, the entire machine locks up until you manually restart it. Putting the old graphics card in doesn't do that. Very strange indeed! As for DosBox, sure you could use it. But what is really the fun in that? Emulation is overrated though convenient. I love working with old machines and old versions of Windows. :3
  3. Take as much time as you need, JSA. Original Zelda's Birthday was amazing! I really would hate to see this one die since it looks much much better! But I'm patient and I can totally wait for as long as it takes to finish. Mainly up to you as to what you want to do, but I'd love to see this project finished.
  4. Now this is just dang cool! Good luck with this! It would be even more awesome if kid Link could ride young Epona like in MM but no matter how it turns out, this will rock!
  5. It's interesting that Windows 95 wouldn't install on this machine. Heck, it's even got enough to handle Windows 98. Barely, but it would from the specs. It baffles me why you'd be getting so many errors during Windows 95 setup. Could it be the IRQ swapping you did in the BIOS? You listed an IDE controller, is it an addon or built into the motherboard? I've never used a socket 5 processor either, the oldest I've really dealt with was socket 7. I guess that could be a slight lie since I worked on a very old server machine that had a really old 80486 processor in it. It's nice to see someone actually care about this stuff. I've run into many who would rather just take a hammer to it or throw it out the window instead of taking the time to appreciate how far we've come technology wise. I usually dabble a bit into older versions of Windows myself. I still have Windows 2000 running on all but one computer and that one computer is a laptop I use only for Skype since the webcam refuses to work on anything older than XP. But I'm definitely interested in seeing any follow ups with this machine as you work on it.
  6. Oh my gosh, I didn't even see that difference!! I changed it via hex editor to NZLE and now it finally works! I finally have textures ripped! Thanks so much, CloudMax!
  7. Does this look right to you? event.returnValue is deprecated. Please use the standard event.preventDefault() instead. jquery.js:5374 ID: CZLE, Ver: 15 texturepacker.js:180 JSZip {files: Object, root: "", load: function, filter: function, file: function…} files: Object root: "" __proto__: Object It still downloads an empty texture pack though. It has the folders when I open in WinRAR along with the instructions txt file but nothing else ever downloads with it or inside of it except those items and it doesn't matter if I use Chrome or Firefox, it's always the same situation.
  8. I tried the process again and I opened it up in WinRAR instead of WinZIP, I now see a pack folder and it's just like how you outlined which is kind of odd. Now for a question. Does the tool actually rip the textures at all or does it just import them once you rip them using an external source and edit them? I used a clean debug ROM for the process too so there shouldn't be any sort of weird errors. However, I would like to know if the tool rips any textures at all or if I'm on my own with that part. I apologize that I'm a bit slow at this. Usually once something is explained a little more thoroughly, I catch on.
  9. I'm having some issues trying to get the tool to rip the textures. So correct me if I'm doing something wrong. Now, first off, do I *have* to use IE10? I don't really have easy access to a computer with it so I tried this with the latest Firefox and somewhat recent Chrome browser. When I drop the ROM in the site either online or locally downloaded, I get a zip file that says texture pack but it has a small instructions text file and nothing more. I've read the instructions several times and I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if it's my browser that's causing the issues.
  10. Thanks, Antidote! I just redownloaded the program and put it in a brand new folder and now it works like a charm.
  11. Dan, I seem to have a problem opening anything in SceneNavi now. I updated to the latest beta 8 and even attempting to open a clean, unedited debug ROM produced an error. It says, Any solutions or ideas on this?
  12. This looks great! I can already see this as an extension of the game if it ended differently. I'm thinking similar to Donkey Kong Country 2 where you fight King Krool on the air ship but then you also face him again in the Lost World. Too bad he couldn't have different health or moves during this 'second' battle.
  13. This is an interesting one. At first I thought maybe it had something to do with the harp intro since the file select screen doesn't play the harp intro but going into a fairy fountain does, however, listening to the tracks, they're both completely identical. The reason I was thinking this is I've replaced 02 with Termina Field. Listening to 02, there's no morning theme to it. However, listening to 31, there's the morning theme and funny enough...it starts playing Hyrule Field as if I never replaced it. But the game definitely plays Termina Field's music. So it's probably not the answer you're looking for but maybe it can start you off in some direction.
  14. Thanks Arcaith, I might give that a try. It's not really the biggest deal but it would be nice to have nighttime tracks. HeavyZ, I did know about changing the variable to 13 to have music play at night but it would most likely be just the same track, unless I was able to change another variable some other place. A bit of a spoiler is that I was going to have a night theme for Hyrule Field just as Twilight Princess did but I didn't want it to be the main overworld theme. N64 Sound Tool hasn't been that nice to me. I think it's developed more for other games than it is for Zelda at this point. Even though it works for it, it's a bit broken as you can't just magically import sounds like you could into Mario 64 (or so it seems you can). I'm hoping N64 tool however will be developed more as time goes on to be able to work around these limitations as even replacing sound effects has been very very hit and miss and even when I did replace the sounds with something, N64 Tool usually just produced static for playback even if nothing was remapped and fit in the original area.
  15. Welcome to the boards! You'll find this place very knowledgeable. I might recommend that you'll want to give DeathBasket's Lair and Spinout's Wiki a look over. They both have quite a few tools available but some of the easiest stuff for beginners is changing the text of the game and even importing your own music. It's not too hard once you start getting into it! Have fun!
  16. I'm probably going to be able to answer my own question with this but I might as well call upon the experts. Has anyone figured out how to play music in Ocarina of Time during the night hours? Now before anyone answers yes, there's a twist to the question. Has anyone figured out how to be able to play a different track at night. For example, in Twilight Princess you have the main Hyrule Field theme in the morning until evening and then once night hits, a completely different track plays. So I'm wondering, has anyone figured out how to do this with Ocarina of Time or is it nearly impossible without the use of an assembly hack?
  17. I just might give that a try! I'm still new to reaper but I can certainly play around with the track and see what happens. As Death said, even lowering the notes might help it sound more appropriate. One theme I'd like to port over is Falbi's House from Twilight Princess and use it to replace the theme when entering the shooting gallery and bombchu bowling alley. Of course that theme is mostly flute and I know the piccolo would sound way too high for the track unless the notes were lowered.
  18. This about the best place I can think to add this question. I've been playing around a LOT with MIDI files and setting them to specific instruments. However, OoT lacks a true flute instrument (at least so it seems). Looking at DeathBasket's instrument list, Hyrule Field is to contain the flute instrument but in actuality, I think it's a piccolo. There have been a number of tracks that I've needed the flute in order to sound correctly. So, now this leads to the actual question. How can I get a sample of a flute in the game? I'm not sure if Majora's Mask contains a flute or if it just plays off the piccolo since then I could just rip it that way. But if that's not the case, is there a way to actually find a flute sample floating around the net somewhere and be able to use InstEd to import it into the game? I've tried looking this up myself but I can't seem to find an actual sample that isn't a sound file in itself. I don't know if Super Mario 64 would have a flute in it or not. Either way, I'd sure appreciate the input on this one since it seems almost all the tracks I'd like to move over require the flute in order to sound proper.
  19. I'm gonna try this out for myself now! Don't feel discouraged, bud! Mine has been in production for at least three years now and I keep tweaking things here and there but I've never gave up on it. I'm sure it's great!
  20. Isn't the Navi tutorials in the Deku Tree set by actors? Using ZAP2, I see them as Navi Information Spots. Wouldn't overwriting it with something else or a blank actor be just as effective?
  21. While playing around with the editor, I do have a suggestion which might come in handy for clumsy people like me. If you try to close your tab or browser, you get a popup window that asks if you're sure you want to leave the page. Also, it seems for some odd reason when I'm young Link, after I try the experimentation mode that most items can no longer be equipped with young Link. Even his exclusive items cannot be selected. Not sure what is going on there. I'll test again though just to be sure I didn't do something wrong.
  22. Whoa! This is sweet as hell! In fact it looks better than MM in my opinion! I might try this out too for my hack. Unrelated: How did you manage to get MM style buttons and heartpieces into OoT that way? I've been trying forever how to figure it out X_X

I see me on the list, yay!
  24. Thanks so much for this heads up!! I gave this a try with 100% success! Goodbye Navi...hello Tatl!
  25. Congrats on this awesome find! But now I'm having an issue. I cannot convert my new file to a RAW format that the game understands. PNG2RAW just spits out Runtime 53 error anymore and any other type of RAW format isn't something the game would understand. Any thoughts on how to remedy this problem?
