Niosai here! *applause*

I'm going to try to round up some E3 info from Nintendo's press conference this morning. I'm going to share what I know to the best of my ability, some of it being speculation. (I'll point out when it's speculation) I'll do my best to sum up what I know. And keep in mind that I'm talking about things that were just revealed recently, so they're liable to change, if even slightly, in the future. Also, this post is going to be incredibly rough for the time being, so just bare with me. I'm going to throw out all my information and then organize it after. If you see any errors, don't be afraid to point them out, or to add something.

To kick it off, the Wii U was announced. The system is, indeed, an entirely new system. Assuming the image I saw was correct, it looks almost exactly like the normal White Wii, except it is curvy like, for example, the original Xbox 360. The buttons on the front are also placed slightly differently. The compartment for where the SD card went in the original Wii is about 4-6 times as large as it was. I'm still not quite sure why. It may be the USB ports.

The system is the first 1080p HD Nintendo system. It is capable of running games like Darksiders II, Ninja Gaiden 3, and Battlefield 3. Its Radeon chipset is capable of running DirectX 10.

The controller for the system is compatible with both the Wii U AND the original Wii. The controller itself is slightly smaller than an iPad (If you can't imagine that point of reference, it's a little bit smaller than a high school text book)

Features Include:

*Screen

6.2'' touch screen on the center of the controller. HD-compliant. The touch screen is a single-touch resistive touch screen, meaning you MAYBE can use your finger, but likely you'll mostly use a stylus. (Think DS bottom screen)

*Buttons

*D-Pad

*Two Analog Sticks

*Four shoulder buttons*

*ABXY buttons (DS-Styled)

*The 4 shoulder buttons are L, R, ZL, and ZR. L, R, ZL, and ZR correspond with L1, R1, L2, and R2, or LB, RB, LT, and RT on a PS3/Xbox 360 controller respectively.

*Extra Features

*Front-Facing Camera

*Two Speakers

*Gyroscope (Tilt Controls)

*Rumble Features

*Technical Information

*Rechargeable Internal Battery

*Supports S-Video, HDMI, Composite Connections

*Supports Video output from 480i to 1080p

*Four USB Ports

*Support for external hard drives and SD Memory Cards

*No DVD video or BluRay playback

*Specs

*Multicore IBM processor

*AMD Radeon GPU

Apparently this chip is stronger than both the Xbox 360 AND the PS3... Impressive.

EDIT (June 02, 2012): When E3 2012 rolls around in a few days, I'll make a similar post.

Here I will list games announced, or at least mentioned by Nintendo during their E3 show, and I will also post details concerning the games, including new announcements.

  • Nintendo 3DS

  • Ace Combat 3D [Namco Bandai]

    No details as of yet.

  • Cave Story 3D [Nippon Ichi Software]

What I know about this title so far is that it is the original Cave story

  • Driver Renegade [ubisoft]

No details that I know of.

  • Kid Icarus: Uprising

Multiplayer modes introduced. 3 on 3 ground and air[?] battles are now possible. AR Cards will be available, allowing you to have AR battles of some sort on a surface.

  • Luigi’s Mansion 2 [Nintendo]

Direct sequel to the original Gamecube title. Will feature multiple mansions.

  • Mario and Sonic at the Olympics in London 2012

Same game as the others. Looks like it will use the gyroscope and the analog pad.

  • Mario Kart [Nintendo]

Looks like there will be Kart Customization/Building. Some portions of the levels are underwater, and it seems you can get a large kite-like contraption attached to the top of your kart to allow you to glide down from big jumps.

  • Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D [Konami]

    No new details.

  • Pac-Man and Galaga Dimensions [Namco Bandai]

ENTIRELY different gameplay than I'm used to from Pac-Man and Galaga. Not even sure how to explain it.

  • Resident Evil: Revelations

    No new details.

  • Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D

    No new details.

  • Star Fox 3D [Nintendo]

Gyroscope/tilt controls can be used to maneuver your Arwing. Multiple

  • Super Mario 3D

A new Super Mario 3D game. First Exclusive 3D portable Super Mario game.

  • Tekken 3D [Namco]

    Basic Tekken formula.

  • Tetris [Hudson Soft]

    ...Tetris.

3DSWare Update Will Include Pokedex 3DS, which will include 16 preloaded Pokemon. In order to unlock more Pokemon, you have to scan codes, or pass someone using SpotPass who has that Pokemon. The game is free.

  • 3DS eShop/DSiWare
  • The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening [Virtual Console/eShop]

    Released today.

  • Excite Bike [eShop]
  • Zelda: 4 Swords [eShop?/DSiWare]

Announced for DSiWare, but might make it to the eShop. Free download.

  • Wii U

  • Batman: Arkham City [Rocksteady Studios]
  • Battlefield 3 [EA Games]
  • Darksiders 2 [Vigil Games]
  • DiRT [Codemasters]
  • Ghost Recon Online [ubisoft]
  • Metro: Last Light [4A Games]
  • Pikmin Title [Nintendo]

It was confirmed that a Pikmin title IS in the works.

  • Nintendo 3DS/Wii U
  • LEGO City Stories [Traveller's Tales]

LEGO GTA. That's all I can say, really.

  • Super Smash Bros. [HAL Laboratory]

Announced, but few details given. Will be cross compatible with the Wii U controller and the Nintendo 3DS.

  • Assassin's Creed: Revelations [ubisoft]

I know I already mentioned this one, but it was announced that the game would also be ported to Wii U.

  • Wii U Tech Demos/"Experiences"

Side note: Reggie Fils-Aime explained that these are not full games, but just tastes of the Wii U's capabilities. This means that these are not fully developed games, but MAY be in the future.

  • HD Experiences

These videos were real-time demonstrations of the unit's processing power.

The first video showed a bird flying a far distance through a large culturally Asian-inspired village. The bird lands on a tree, and the tree instantly sprouts thousands of flowers. The bird picks a flower with its beak and flies over a lake, dropping the flower.

The second video was an HD reimagining of Zelda. It shows Link walking through a large building, when a giant spider bursts through the wall. The Wii U controller is shown to hold everything from the HUD, including Link's health and items, leaving the TV screen free of anything but visuals. (I hope this turns into a real game!)

  • Chase Mii

Two players use their Wiimotes to chase the third player using the Wii U controller. The Wii U controller has a different point of view.

  • Battle Mii

Shooting game where the player using the Wii U controller shoots at players playing using Wiimotes from an overhead perspective.

  • New Super Mario Bros. Mii

This was the first game ever to be publicly shown with Wii U functionality. This game is the core concept of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, but with extra functionality. The Wii U controller displays the same image as the television screen, but can be controlled through the controller. A new feature is being able to play as Miis. There are also new moves your character can do using the Wii U controller's extra buttons.

Here is a list of developers currently known to be working with the Wii U [i will update this as I find more]:

  • Disney
  • EA Sports
  • Vicarious Visions
  • THQ
  • Ubisoft
  • Warner Bros
  • 5th Cell
  • Square-Enix
  • Namco Bandai
  • Irrational Games
  • EA Games

Dumping some of my thoughts I just posted at ASSEMbler here, after having a few hours to think about Nintendo's offerings:

[Replying to a "Where is F-Zero?" post...]

That. It's been seven years over here, I believe, since the last new F-Zero, since we didn't get Climax. Don't tell me F-Zero's gonna be the next Kid Icarus.

[...]

As for Nintendo's conference, I was hyped for it, considering they'd be showing off their new console, new offerings for the 3DS, etc. Now, Wii U does look very interesting. It appears to be powerful enough to shut up those complaining about the Wii's graphics - at least until Microsoft and Sony bring out their new home systems - and it's got, yet again, a different kind of controller than what we're used to. I can't yet say if that's going into a good direction, but being able to continue playing your game off the TV screen is pretty nice, and I can imagine some other good uses for it outside of that.

I am somewhat disappointed about the first-party lineups for Wii U and 3DS, tho. For Wii U, there's basically only been tech demos no matter if they hint at possible new games or not (I'm not counting on that; remember the GCN Zelda tech demo?), and for 3DS... well, there's a good lineup of upcoming titles I suppose - Super Mario, Mario Kart, Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion 2, Starfox, Kid Icarus, etc. - but most of those were already announced before, many at the last E3 even. There were, what, two new announcements for 3DS? Luigi's Mansion 2 and... or maybe just one? Again, where's F-Zero, or where's Metroid, or a new Zelda?

Oh well, maybe there's gonna be some surprise announcements over the course of E3 still... like that Pikmin 3 that Miyamoto had mentioned once, and never materialized.

It seems some weird stuff happened at work and I'm off today. Thanks for reminding me, fkualol. Also, saying your name made me feel like I was adding an "lol" to the end of my sentence. And xdaniel, I agree with you completely. And I've been waiting for a new F-Zero for awhile. Also, I'm not really into Pikmin, but I know a long time ago, they teased Pikmin 3.

Edit: I did not realize you mentioned Pikmin. lmao

Edit 2: I really don't like how they teased an nonexistent Super Smash Bros. game. I mean, I LOVE SSB, but at the same time, I'm just hyped for something that likely won't be out until 2013 since, from how he explained it, isn't even in development stages yet.

I am slightly annoyed. I just read that the system is NOT multitouch...even though the E3 reveal SAID "Multitouch" when it showed them playing the checkers game. But anyways. A new Pikmin game was confirmed! I added it to the post.

Cite your source? Wherever you got that, it seems like pure bollocks. They even said themselves it was multi-touch.

Unless they just messed up there. :P

I'm really hoping Skyward Sword is that metaphorical Wind Waker. Those graphics looked astonishing, I'd hate to see them go to waste. The Wind Waker storyline has really gone downhill, so I'm not looking forward to a continuation of it regarding either plot or graphics.
