  1. I have written an opening for this mod. With this piece specifically, I wrote it with Ocarina of Time in mind to capture the theme the original opening had. That being said, I tried to keep it original and sounding like something that would be in a Zelda game. I hope you enjoy this piece, I am also going to be writing the Gannons Tower theme today. https://soundcloud.com/jamesandrewharrisgrant/the-sheikahs-apprentice-opening-concept Tell me what you think.
  2. Here is the final piece I have done for the Thunder Surge. https://soundcloud.com/jamesandrewharrisgrant/thunder-surge-theme Written at 56/57 Bpm. This song has an emotional undertone, but triumphant in the themes it explores and evokes which are, adventure, defiance, and endurance, which I thought were suitable for this piece. There has also been brief instrument changes and arrangement changes, after the underwhelming first theme I decided to go for a more epic feel for this rendition to solidify the temple theme, in turn this brought a suitable change for instruments and the addition of instruments I felt were necessary to convey the mood and emotions I wanted. There is now Timpani, trumpets, Kotos, and synthesized warm pads, as I mentioned before to solidify the piece. I hope you enjoy this theme.
  3. Worked on some ideas for locations, here is one of them https://soundcloud.com/jamesandrewharrisgrant/forest-gale-ruins-snippet Enjoy.
  4. Here is an musical idea I had for this mod, and you get to see my lovely face on the Soundcloud picture. https://soundcloud.com/jamesandrewharrisgrant/zelda-composition-1-gaming-music-project I can't think of a location placement for this piece but I hope you all enjoy it.
  5. There is a couple of good RPG games I could recommend. (These are games I have played) Bioware is generally good for that immersive and deep world building and game play. Three come to mind, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Dragon Age Origins/Inquisition, and Mass Effect. These are games that allow for a great degree of customisation, with a multitude of approaches to how you want to shape the world via your actions. However these games game quickly become boring or overwhelming due to the degree of content. These games may not suit what you are looking for, but are player friendly and open for people of all gaming abilities. Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. This game can fool you with it's depth, probably because of the extremely childlike graphics and nature of the game. This game's graphics where created with Studio Ghibli. This game is more to do with the dungeon crawling and evolution side of RPG games. This game is enjoyable to play with a wide range of a difficulty setting. This is one of those games that could become tiresome after a while, and difficult due to a lack of direction. The obvious game Chrono Trigger. Fantastic! *EDIT*
  6. Was that directed at me Mallos? If so, I do take quite alot of inspiration from classic Runescape music for years when I was preparing to start composing as a career goal, I started looking at the Midi files associated with the music to gather some thoughts and see how difficult it would be to come up with ideas for game and film composition. When I started out composing I made some covers of the Runescape music, to try and catch the attention of Jagex. I think the experiences I had playing Zelda and Runescape when I was younger have definitely given me some direct vision and perspective on the type of sound I would like to create for when I do work on mods and such.
  7. Here is the official piece for Hyrule Winter. http://1drv.ms/1v8RYTA Originally this began as a much shorter piece, but I extended it to the exact time of the night and day cycle of OOT. This piece has a ballad feel written using some traditional instruments, except the choir to create a sad, calming mood to the piece: this song has been intentionally mixed in a way to convey peace and softness instead of loud and brash.
  8. I have a snow top temple idea down. If you're interested. Here it is:- https://soundcloud.com/jamesandrewharrisgrant/snow-top-temple-idea-1
  9. I could try. It was originally much shorter so I could build up tension and leave it unresolved, it was written in a different timing I am not used to so I could rework the build with some new knowledge and fit it from the markers you suggested. Update - 13:42 - Twilight Idea #2 This version has been shortened to accommodate a lesser sounding build-up. However this piece has the same first selection looped and then used as the second section as an example to show the capabilities of the piece, I composed it so it could be easily looped with itself to lessen issues that could arise. I have re-mixed the piece to be a lot more powerful in the delivery in volume and frequency range, though with the new mix It sounds slightly more ominous but I definitely aimed to keep the same feel as the original. Where you mentioned the build up, it is still present to a lesser degree however it fits alot better due to lack of two different sections needed to be created to keep variation. I would also like to clarify this piece in terms of design and inspiration, I drew inspiration from stone temple and the shadow temple but from the design of those places not the music, I deliberately implemented this to have a greater effect on the mood of the piece, as it sounds thematically dark and mysterious. Here is the improved piece - https://soundcloud.com/jamesandrewharrisgrant/twilight-idea-demo-2 If you would like to know any more about the piece I will post some new details about it. *If you need anything editing to the track or would like anything pertaining to the track PM me as I am going away on Holiday/Vacation tomorrow and will not be back until Friday.
  10. I finally got round to finishing the idea for the Twilight Temple, I wanted to make this confusing and mysterious to listen to this has literally just came from the DAW, as I had struggled with the arrangement and instrument choices for this piece. With this information in mind please be honest in regards to what you think about it. https://soundcloud.com/jamesandrewharrisgrant/twilight-idea
  11. I think I might try and do one or two of the locations listed, as I am very interested in this mod. I will begin composing them shortly, as I have a couple of ideas for the Twilight temple and the Earth temple. Do you have any themes or motifs you would like me to input into the compositions? 19:25 - Update - Earth Idea. I wrote an idea for the Earth Temple. https://soundcloud.com/jamesandrewharrisgrant/earth-idea Feel free to leave any comments and/or suggestions to what I could do to this piece. I will begin work on the Twilight Temple idea when I get back from my University enrolment.
  12. Hello, you may know me as a composer because of my endless Soundcloud postings on the shoutbox. I have done one of these before, but I think it is good to update and remind people you are still around. In addition to doing gaming related pieces I have branched out for my upcoming recording project, I will also point out some gaming related inspiration in my pieces for those who are interested. Non-Gaming Pieces. https://soundcloud.com/jamesandrewharrisgrant/song-idea-2-spanish-themed-mix-1 - This first piece was inspired by Goldeneye, but only where the bass is concerned the level that inspired this piece was the daytime surface level. https://soundcloud.com/jamesandrewharrisgrant/angels-instrumental-demo-1 - This piece was inspired by a game series called Parasite Eve. This will also be one of the first releases on my upcoming project. https://soundcloud.com/jamesandrewharrisgrant/demo-6-final-mix - This piece was a quick Dance/Pop demo using some new software this will not feature on anything soon, but I thought it was a fun one to share for you guys. Gaming Pieces. https://soundcloud.com/jamesandrewharrisgrant/zelda_demo_1_ballad_of_the_wind_fish - This is not a cover of the original Ballad of the Wind Fish, this is a piece I wrote inspired by the original and a cover version of it. Out of all the pieces I am going to show you, I believe this is one of the more beautiful ones. https://soundcloud.com/jamesandrewharrisgrant/zelda-concept-work-hyrule-field-night - Someone pointed out on this community how this piece sounds very busy, I would like to explain this piece. This piece is a night time arrangement, building up as the moon reaches the peak of it's journey then climaxing and fading away as the sun begins to set. It might not seem very clear but that is what I was trying to do. So guys there is my contribution to the music posts going up recently. Any feedback is greatly appreciated, as are suggestions and questions.
  13. Yeah, I've got FL Studio, I use it for soundfont assignment to my Zelda stuff.
  14. You're really talented Punk, what software do you use? And would you be interested in doing a collaboration sometime?
  15. Have you guys been checking out the developer commentary?
  16. This is some great music Punk! I even started following your Soundcloud.
  17. Wow, Sairugoth! That character looks great. I love the detailing with the shirt he is wearing. This is coming along greatly, you're very talented.
  18. That's really cool, I like that it is in the MM style. I really asked because I thought the map looked great and was curious to the design. Your maps are really looking awesome btw.
  19. Is that based on the Castle town from Twilight Princess? Sorry if this has already been answered. What a really cool map though, these are always a joy.
  20. Just a point before I share the song I'm listening to. It really is. Anyway... Orange Caramel - Catallena I'm really into K-pop at the minute, I was very interested when I found out that they use some Punjabi in this song.
  21. If you need any extra music, I would be happy to compose it. I have finally finished college and have plenty of time.
  22. Good luck, hope it goes well for you.
  23. Hello, I am wanting to start a topic, about Video Game Composition. I am wanting this topic to be a place where we can share the techniques we use, techniques we want to use, and have an open place to discuss our pieces among one another.
