I'm new here. I am interested in modding textures, but to be honest, I have little knowledge of it; which is why I came here! I figured that experienced gamers might provide good insight into modding ROMs for emulators.

I am glad to be here! :)

We're glad to have you!  Welcome.

Which textures?  Anyways you'll need this...

and this...

and if you get good, come here...

Now I'm told there is a replacement to one of ZLE2's support file, as it uses 'n64gfx.exe' which is getting a little long in the tooth.

So, if you're running 64-bit I've been told but can't confirm this tool will replace 'n64gfx.exe'

Personally, I use GIMP for texture editing, but that's up to you.  Enjoy your stay, and feel free to ask us anything.  We're here to help.

Hello, and welcome...

I am just curious... what kind of re-texturing? Are you looking to make it permanent in the ROM itself, or are you looking to making a distributable zip file with textures? Permanent textures are more difficult since you have to use a mixture of rice's video plugin, and converting know-how to really find what you need... but you can get some high-quality results with just rice's plugin and messing with external textures.

You won't get hi-res textures into OoT permanently, but you can get amazing results by using rice's video plugin.

Hey guys, let's be a bit more civil toward each other, ok? The only thing I can think of that it wouldn't dump would be the objects a scene uses.(Such as trees, enemies, skyboxes etc) Other then that, ZLE2 if I remember properly dumped all the textures. Airikita, if there textures that aren't dumping, please explain what textures aren't? Its the only way JSA can fix the problem(if there is one) in the upcoming ZLE3.
