You are all hereby challenged to play Alex Kidd in Miracle World.Alex Kidd in Miracle World was perhaps the most well-loved of the Alex Kidd games. To many, it was this game that introduced "jan-ken-pon" (paper, scissors, stone) to them. As young Alex, you must traverse the entire Miracle World (planet Aries) and save it from the evil tyrant, Janken. CONTENTS The download pack will contain the following: [*]Alex Kidd in Miracle World (AKiMW.sms) [*]A copy of the rules and some info [*]A text file, titled after the game, for completion time/score/date to be recorded, along with any comments you wish to provide. It is recommended that you use the Fusion emulator, which can be found by clicking here.Please note: In order to run this game, you will need to set up the emulator as follows: [*]Open the emulator and click Options -> Set Config [*]In the SMS/GG BIOS tab (which is usually the default), select the AKiMW.sms file as the BIOS file for the top three BIOS files, and click OK. If done correctly, you should have the following: [*]Once you have the BIOS set up like above, simply press TAB (or go to File -> Power on / Hard Reset. The game will load. RULES There will be a few rules in place to allow for a fair go: [*]You must complete the game from start to finish. Once you are complete, you must record the time it took you to beat the game, as well as your final score. [*]The clock must be initiated upon pressing START, stopping only once the epilogue is complete. [*]No save states are to be used. [*]If you lose all of your lives, you may use the CONTINUE code. To activate, you must have at least U400, and hold UP on the GAME OVER screen, and press Button 2 8 times. This will allow you to continue. Otherwise, you must start again, with time still counting. [*]No game guides are permitted to be used, aside from the original instruction manuals which can be found online. [*]Sound must be enabled, and playing clearly for you. For the best experience, the music and sounds are necessary. [*]External controllers are permitted, to make things easier (or harder, depending on your setup). [*]Do not post your times here. Instead, send me a PM with the provided text files, subject name being AKiMW Challenge. The community challenge will have a deadline: 10:00PM on December 4, 2012 (Australian Eastern Standard Time). You can use an online timezone converter to find out when exactly that is in your timezone, or simply look at the provided countdown timer above. PRIZE The person with the fastest overall time, and highest overall score will be awarded with a prize, which will be determined upon selection of the winner. CONTENDERS No contenders at this time...
