  1. Two nights ago my 3DSXL died; it wouldn't turn on at all. I called Nintendo, they said to exchange the 3DSXL for a new one (which I did yesterday). After that, I called Nintendo again to try and get my Nintendo Network account onto my NEW 3DSXL (which was a problem since it was linked to my old 3DS, yet was wiped off my old 3DS), but I actually called when the eShop was down for maintenance for the rest of the day. Called again today, and FINALLY got my NN account delinked from the old 3DS and linked to the 3DSXL. Today, I've started redownloading my stuff today and will finish doing so tomorrow. tl;dr: got worse, but got better. Getting all my shit back!
  2. So, yep. I've been trying since 9am yesterday (for me it's 5:33pm ATM) to transfer my games and data from my old 3DS to the 3DSXL I got for Christmas. Terrible luck with Nintendo's servers constantly dropping my connection. About half an hour ago I was finally able to engage in a System Transfer, but then it happened. AT THE VERY LAST SECOND MY MOTHERHUMPING 3DSXL DROPPED ITS CONNECTION AND I'VE LOST EVERYTHING. No more Ambassador GBA games, no more hours I've logged into various digital download/Virtual Console games, no more Miis, no more Streetpass/Mii Plaza data, nada. All gone. I'd wager that I lost over $200 worth of games. I love you Nintendo, which is why I think it's all the more important for me to say that you desperately need to get on top of your online affairs. Sony, Microsoft, and Steam were able to sort their shit out by day's end yesterday, at least for the most part (and the former two had to deal with a wave of new consoles on a Christmas right after their console launches). Your service errors were excusable by circumstance of the Christmas wave yesterday, but the fact that your servers are still borked well into today is appalling and embarrassing. I don't care about Nintendo being "behind" in graphics, or gore, or whatever, but when they're lagging behind the competition in terms of online integration and trying to push more digital downloads, that's a real problem and it can seriously damage Nintendo. I'm not just gonna outright boycott Nintendo, nor even just the 3DS. I probably won't be playing it again for a while (i.e. 'till Smash 4) though, cuz frankly seeing how myself and many others got the short side of the stick from Nintendo's server incompetence, it's all left a bad taste in my mouth. One thing's for sure, though: I am now avoiding digital downloads as much as I can, due to their sheer volatility.
  3. Christmas Goku. 'Cuz it's the Christmas season.
  4. http://benswann.com/guess-which-hot-christmas-game-console-the-nsa-is-hacking-into/ (Totally not stealing somebody's topic or post from the ASSEMblerGames forums) "According to the documents, NSA agents have created actual characters in World of Warcraft and Second Life and are using them to spy on players. The documents detail that the NSA has mass data collection capabilities through the Xbox Live console online network. The network boasts more than 48 million individuals from all over the world. The documents even show that the NSA has been attempting to recruit tech savvy users as informants through the gaming network." I'm gonna be brutally honest: who the fuck didn't see the NSA getting their greasy hands on the XBone Kinects? But WoW and Second Life: that Ididn't expect (yet it's not totally surprising of the NSA either). The NSA are a taxpayer-funded* joke (albeit a dangerous joke). Their misplaced efforts make the McCarthyist communist witchhunts of the 1940s/50s look positively sane and negligible in comparison. (*Wait a minute, "taxpayer-funded")... OH MY GOD I'M PAYING MY GOVERNMENT TO PLAY WORLD OF WARCRAFT AND SECOND LIFE. I'm sure a fair bundle of gov't employees already play on their computers, phones, or GP32s now-and-again (oh Freecell, how could we survive the office without thee?), but we are now literally paying kids/young adults to play videogames (and let's face it: they're not exactly gonna be too vigilant with their "investigative" playing). I'm sure that even many of the more tax-supportive members here will find this to be ridiculous. The worst part about the NSA gamers is that this manages to be frivolous and scary at the same time: remember that one kid who got reported for, then arrested and put in jail on his 19th birthday just for making an (admittedly off-color) joke about shooting up a school on League of Legends? I guarantee that such arrests will become less sporadic. I applaud Snowden for the same reason I encourage people who videotape** police officers: the government never looks over the agencies who watch us (short of a blue moon appearing over a frozen Hell full of flying pigs getting struck by lighting while claiming winning lottery tickets during Thanksgivukkah***), so it's time for us to start watching our government and our police. It's bad enough that some states outlaw the recording of police actions. And to anybody who's gonna say that they don't governments upping seemingly insignificant surveillance (e.g. "I don't do anything bad, so it's fine by me!"), I'm gonna be blunt: "They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." (Benjamin Franklin) When citizens (whether public or private) have willingly surrendered their basic rights for a promise of protection and security (e.g. Sedition Act of 1918, McCarthyism/Second Red Scare, etc), this causes more and more innocuous actions to be considered a threat to the Safety and Welfare of the Nation. Posting rap lyrics boasting that you'll be more infamous than the Boston Bombing can be considered a terrorist action. Yes, rap lyrics in bad taste were put on the same level as making a threat on the President's life. (though to be fair his case was overturned by a petition of ~90k people, which shows why people care even if it didn't affect them directly: because it has the potential to, with chances going up the longer it's unchecked.) **videotape? Ah crapbaskets, I make myself sound older than I really am. ***I may have gone overboard with this one... and with the footnotes. Nominee for Shitpost of the Year, 2013 pls.
  5. First off, how the fuck is this not a topic in Music yet? Second off, who are your favorite bands/artists/composers/game companies/anime scores/movie scores/etc? Let's get started! Bolded+Underlined ones are my top five (y'all don't have to do this, though). Spoiler'd due to long-ass list, accompanied with some notes and unfunny commentary. Most of my list is taken from my iTunes playlist, though I've hammered in a few others I don't have in my library yet.
  6. Demons and Wizards-"Fiddler on the Green Gorgeous mixture of metal and acoustic/symphonic music. Can't get enough of Blind Guardian and Demons and Wizards.
  7. (composite copypasta post from another forum) Some may say that this is a way to encourage as much originality as possible, but fuck that noise; that's restrictive and de-incentivizing as shit, not to mention severely devaluing what is legitimately original content just because it happens to also coexist with non-original content. Though this doesn't personally screw me over, this will fuck up a lot of people on YT that I respect and admire, so y'know what? I'm finally fucking done. I'm migrating to DailyMotion (and hopefully I'll actually start doing stuff there). But hey, maybe a mass migration might have a decent chance of happening since this'll screw over so many people. Or, something I thought of: if there are LPers/reviewers/etc super hesitant to ditch a chance at YT monetization, they might be able pull a Rifftrax and only put their commentary on YouTube and upload their gameplay footage on Dailymotion/Vimeo/etc, allowing for their commentary to still receive monetization... granted it's a bit out-of-the-way, but considering the forthcoming limitations, it'd be better than nothing.
  8. For OoT/MM, I'd love a hack that mods the camera to be freely moveable a la Wind Waker (but with the N64, the D-pad could be used instead). I got to thinking about this since someone made an SM64 hack which made the camera more like Sunshine's a while ago.
  9. "Gannon" does seem like a kind of laughable name. Funny how one extra "n" can change a name from being badass to assbad. But hell, at least "Gannon" isn't nearly as bad a misnomer as the semi-infamous "Kerog". a: His name had been established as "Bowser" for years up to the publication of this book (1999). b: Where in the blue buttfuck did "Kerog" come from?
  10. Conker, I consider you a buddy of mine (especially having bonded over our hatred of Sarkeesian, heh), so I think it's more pertinent for me to ask you: please stop throwing fits and requesting to get your topics locked when stuff like this happens. Was Nmoyd's post spammy? Yes; this is indeed the Gaming section, and this does revolve around gaming no matter how minute some people may consider the subject manner, thus such a post didn't belong here. But on the other side of that coin, when you get confrontational and snarky, you help to destroy any chance your topic has to thrive at all; but then again, all chances are flat out destroyed when you keep shutting down and giving up on your threads. I apologize if this post may seem harsh, but I'm not trying to be an asshole to you; I just think that this sort of attitude doesn't help the flow of discussions on forums (nor your character in other people's eyes), and I like you man, but... I'm sorry, I think you really needed to finally be called out on this. Now, on to the main topic: I remember seeing that part of it, and it did come off at contemptuous and condescending, making it hilarious; the typo is just the icing on the cake.
  11. -Pepperoni -Grated Parmesan -Fried jalapeño slices -Sausage (sometimes) -Garlic powder -Lemon pepper -Crushed red pepper flakes -Crushed ghost pepper flakes (seriously, this pizza does not fuck around) It's fine enough on regular pizza, but if we're talking white pizza here... *drool* @Mellow: seeing your post, I now wanna try throwing some fried kalimari on a pizza.
  12. I'd actually say I agree with this sentiment. It's astounding to me how this whole URA thing is still a mess.
  13. Maybe Lorule was/is Termina. Regardless, this is actually one I'm looking forward to; it'll be interesting to see how well the Megaman philosophy of dungeon order is played out.
