  1. Ah OK, I'll join in some time
  2. Not sure if this is common knowledge since I haven't been on the scene in forever, but apparently you don't need a tunic if your health is so low for either hot environments or under water. https://kotaku.com/new-ocarina-of-time-glitch-lets-players-roll-through-fi-1821333437/amp a good way to find the pointer for this action would be using the Ram debugging tools. I myself was never good at Ram debugging, and I cannot remember the process to find ROM addresses from RAM debugging.. I know it is mainly trial and error disabling certain RAM functions in game and looking for the results, but that is all I can remember
  3. I see, it was slowly heading that way before I left. Still.. I was hoping the people I had talked to most might still be lurking around. If anyone from the old days does see this by off chance and wants to stay in touch shoot me an email at Heavyz1390@gmail.com
  4. Hey everyone, I know I kinda just disappeared years ago. I missed talking with some of you guys, and being part of the community here, so I decided to check back in. Anyhow I've only seen a few old names so far, not sure who all has stayed
  5. All this time I thought you were closer to my age. Not that you're much older And Kill-la-Kill was awesome
  6. Well I guess to start off I should say my real name is Douglas I've been a member here for about 2 years now, I joined because I wanted to keep up with some Zelda mods in the work, shortly after I decided to start experimenting, and hacking OoT myself. I don't play a very big role here in the community I think, but I try to encourage people when I see them doing something cool, and help out anyone less experienced hacking Zelda. I'm 24, and while I don't know how to do anything fancy like ASM hacking, or any sort of programming, I'm a somewhat seasoned OoT debug hacker. I can efficiently use most tools to mod the debug rom, though I'm not experienced making my own maps, or models. I find it kinda cool, and a bit funny that I'm actually here, and working on my own mod now. Before I started I thought of some well known OoT hackers almost as celebrities (even though that sounds a little lame) I've always loved video games, and the fact that so many cool things were being done to my favorite one blew my mind, especially ones meant to be new games in their own right. For me it would be kinda hard to describe my personality without giving the wrong impression, so I'll just name off some interest, and what I do I work 6-7 days a week now, (recently had a change in my job schedule) it sucks, but the money sure doesn't On my free time I try to watch the latest movies, and currently most of my time is being dumped into playing Video games like Dead Space 3, and Elder Scrolls Oblivion (even if the games are dated, I'm late to the last console generation) I've always loved anime, and I'm really into music. I love video games equally, and I've been trying to build the biggest retro collection I can for some years now. I don't hang out with a lot of people, I mostly talk to my fiance, get on the computer, sometimes mod, but mostly just watch tv, and game. Music is a big passion of mine, always looking for cool new stuff, anything rock, techno, indie, punk, or metal. My favorite kind of movies are action, horror, and fantasy. I like comedy, but I have to be around the right kind of people to really enjoy them. I could go on, but eh'. Lastly I guess I should mention what I'm most skilled at when working on OoT, and that is Importing music. I like to think I make some pretty good dungeon puzzles, and well, that's really all I specialize in lol. I can do way more things than that, but those two things are my favorite to do.
  7. Here's a collection of different hacking guides, and notes for OoT Debug, and one, or two things for the V1.0 ROM Everything in this folder was originally intended for personal use, and not all credit is given for whoever originally made the guide, or provided the information. If you see anything that was originally something you wrote as a guide, or as just useful notes, then feel free to upload a new copy with credit given to yourself in whichever file. I did try to credit whoever in the file when I was thinking about it, and originally doing all this. Also if you want to change, or add anything for the better go ahead. Whether you are changing an existing file, or want to add an all new one. Keep in mind some of this is sloppy, and there's a lot of txt documents that could use better titles, or even further explanation of what is even inside the txt document. You'll see some stuff that has already been posted here on the GCN, some not. Some of these guides should even be edited to simply sound better, and more like a guide, but whatever. I don't feel like doing all that. I mainly made this for myself to make it easier to find, and look at whatever info I needed, and it's especially useful if you find yourself in a situation without internet service. This doesn't have everything you need to know in it, but I feel like it could be really useful for a lot of people. Especially anyone who hasn't tried to do a lot of things previously, and have only stuck to doing a few different things like maps, music, or whatever. Hope someone finds this useful, and maybe even this could go on to be changed, and added to drastically. I think it's a good idea to keep lots of stuff like this in one place. http://www.mediafire.com/download/nwewa5dmb5za9d3/OoT_Debug_hacking_guides,_and_notes.rar
  8. Yup, you read the title right. For some reason I feel like the production on this could end before it ever gets released. Though if it does I'm not expecting the most awesome of Live Action adaptations. Comingsoon.net has always been a pretty creditable source for information, and I follow them just for little tidbits of info like this dropping on my news feed. I'm hoping at the very least they make some really good picks for the main cast, and have a hefty amount of cash dumped in for the special effects, and the fighting choreography. I'd prefer it if Link never spoke a word either, but I imagine they can only go so far in a web/tv series where the main character has no dialogue. http://www.comingsoon.net/tv/news/407589-netflix-is-developing-a-live-action-legend-of-zelda-series
  9. If we were to do that I would say it would have to be a big community mod, URA claimed that it was going to have stuff that wasn't possible at the time, like new maps compatible on N64 hardware, and all sorts of grand things I think some of the members who worked on it just should have known wasn't going to pan out. We could do one as big on scale, but be more realistic, and not claim to do anything we can't, or don't know how to do yet, at least not know 100% sure. I'd suggest a much bigger team, and have at least 5-7 long term veteran OoT hackers preferably more, and 5-7 less experienced, but trust worthy hackers known to have kept steadily working on mods before, even if they've only been around a little over a year, or two. I'm not the guy to even think about getting something like this started. I don't have any delusions of grandeur. Maybe if I was a more well known, experienced/talented hacker who's put out some pretty big mods before I could get a lot of the veteran guys to say hey "let's do this, I believe in this, it's going to be awesome" Even if such a said person were to try to do such a thing though it would be hard to get a ton of people to hop on that. I mean when you consider how many times something like this has been tried, and put down. I've seen at least 4, or more big mods claiming all sorts of grand things get dropped, even saying it was still in the works when everyone could smell the death of it. They aimed too high by putting to much work on each person individually, I think, and wanted things to be in it that no one was able to pull off before. Get a big enough team though and you could do a big mod finished fast. My ideal team would be much bigger though... Something like 4-5 main people who direct, and oversee everyone's work, do the planning on the story, the dungeons, and everything with contributing idea's from everyone else, and decide who does what, and how it should be. These people would have to stay in constant contact, even if it meant by a mobile messaging app. Each person could direct a number of 3, or 4 hackers efficiently I think. 3 people for music, 2 at the very least 7 people to design new maps, dungeons, and models. Preferably 10 6 people for more of the technical stuff, ASM hacking, and changing code to make new items, mess with the menu's, and anything else you can imagine a less experienced person could handle. 1, or two people for art, and advertisement and I'm probably forgetting other stuff, but it doesn't matter it all sounds pretty silly, main point is, it would take a huge team, or everyone would just get tired of doing what they are working on, and the project would die. End of story
  10. I might want to join on some live videos, depending on what they are. I think I'm a much funnier guy live, or when I actually get to talk, and I just have the want to do a video, and just get really drunk through the whole thing starting out sober, and finishing at the "Ok I might regret acting this way tomorrow, so I'm gonna leave now" point
  11. Good work, keep it coming Air. I've got some updates of my own to post soon
  12. This community was a lot more lively when I fist joined close to 2 years ago. I'd like to see it that way again, Too many people dropped projects, or left, some I wish never did. I'm not active on any other forum sites, I've got one, or two accounts, in others, but I never really visited them much when I did. I know we've got a lot of youtube video uploaders here, why don't you share some of our video's as GCN content? We've got people who not only mod, but write music, and all sorts of things we're one big collection of ever creating nerdy pop culture loving people, and I think that's really what you should advertise. anime, and anime reviews, anime news, and more art music video games, mods, reviews, let's play video's, video game news, and more ect, ect.. Maybe recruit some volunteers to do pop culture review, and news pages for different types of media Find a good MMORPG where only community exclusive members can join the sites clan, and go on quest together. Idk, it would be awesome if everyone would get hyped up about all of these idea's. I don't think we really need money to get things going, just some enthusiasm from a bunch of people to get things up in the right direction
  13. I wish I was more experienced, and skilled enough to be help, but I would most definitely like to see this happen
  14. Alright, I went back and fixed a lot of things within my mod, and started working on new things so far. Nothing cool to show off yet. I've given a lot more thought as to how I should approach the mod to make better progress than before, and I will mainly be focusing on three things first before anything else, rather than jumping from working on new idea, to new idea when I got one, or whatever was easiest to do at the time. I'll be making dungeons the first priority, a few new items the next, and then new maps, and models. Other things will be worked on as they need to be, or not at all until I finish everything else. I've also decided it would be best to give up on editing the text, unless someone good enough decides to step up to the mantle of writing new dialogue. One of the biggest reasons I decided to drop the project was because I felt overwhelmed trying to get more things done than I bargained for originally, so that's why new text is being let go, along with some other extremely time consuming plans I had for the project. I've got some major new idea's for the mod, I have more, but anything I don't list I'm still considering, or giving thought on. 1. Some overworld maps, but no more than 7 to 10 will be redone. the new maps I've decided on so far are: Castle Town, The regular fairy, and great fairy fountains, Outside the Temple of Time, and inside the Temple of Time, Kakariko Village, and Hyrule Field). I'm debating If a new "Inside the Well" dungeon map should be done, or not. I've decided most other overworld, boss, and dungeon maps should stay the same, I could end up adding one, or two more maps to this list though. Most likely not. Currently I don't plan on doing these maps myself, just giving the idea outline for them to anyone willing to do them. I will do what I have to do though. Right now hoping a few offers for help I've gotten are still on the table. Help is definitely welcome for making new maps 2. I plan on making at least one new item, possibly two. The main one I will definitely get done is a new spell called Hylia's Light. It will have the same damage effect as a light arrow, but be more, or less like Din's Fire. I'm considering the idea of making Sprint boots as well. (Maybe just have a fairy grant link the ability to run instead). again, this is something I'm hoping someone else will contribute to the project by doing, I have someone in mind I will ask, but if they decline then I can definitely do this myself later on when I'm working on an area of the game I would like to introduce the new said item in, 3. a few enemy's, and bosses will be given an all new look, and some even new attacks, but that's all I'm going to say about this other than the fact that no one should worry that I'm going to change up things too much. My main idea for the whole mod is still the same, OoT with the same story, and places, but a little different, with all new music. Kinda how people reboot old movies.
  15. I would definitely like that, especially since someone told me that xdan got custom maps working on hardware for the most part, but I don't know if that is true 100% I was still around when we got custom models up and going. Anyways thanks for the offer Sairugoth. I'll definitely pm you sometime
  16. Of course I would be greatfull if you started working on the music again, I'll have to message you about that after I get off work if you don't shoot a msg my way first
  17. Well I'm officially back, I'll be visiting the gcn daily again. Currently I'm at work on break, and I can't stop thinking about picking up my mod, and working on it when I get home. I already know what I want to start doing, and what I shold tackle in order to get this thing done as fast as I can. I'll post up progress, and thoughts on everything related after some time. Good to see mostly everyone is still here
  18. ...Umm why are you asking when you seem like you've pretty much know exactly what you want to do? No cutscenes aren't "THAT" important if you're not going to change them "THAT" much. Otherwise I would say presentation, and cutscenes were "THAT" important, I mean if you look at how games are trending to be more cinematic then you wouldn't be saying "THAT" like "THAT" because I was thinking fans would really enjoy new in game cutscenes that have been altered more than anyone has done in the past. I figured if anyone could do it then you could given if you were compelled enough to do so
  19. Depends, how different do you plan on making these cutscenes?
  20. There needs to be a general gameplay keep thread, and all of the stuff involving gameplay keep from other threads should be moved into it

    This or That?

I like SM64, but by the time I get to the upstairs part of the castle I get bored with the game. I'm able to play, and complete OoT at least once a year and still get those feelz. Carmel coffee creamer, or vanilla?
  22. I'm glad you posted that man, oh and did I mention it works perfect on hardware?
  23. I was going to post about this when I had more to show/talk about, but it may be at least until the end of this week, or this weekend until I have more updates now that I'm working on music for ZB2, as well as trying to keep up a social life, job hunt, and work on my mod. Jason777 did an awesome mod for ZR that I'm absolutely stoked to incorporate into it. The arrow rupee decrement mod. Basically he made it so that for every Arrow that is fired a single rupee is taken away. Just like Zelda one! He also took away the Arrow count for both the Bow in menu, and for whatever C button the Bow is used on. I'm going to be doing lots of things to make good use of this. 1. Take away the Slingshot, and make Child Link able to use the Bow as well as Adult, it will be the first major dungeon item in the slingshots place. 2. Adjust wallet sizes. I'm thinking 30 like the standard quiver is good, 70 for the second wallet, and (it's gonna be extremely hard to get, and it won't be needed to beat the game) the 3rd wallet, only obtainable near the end of the game will hold a max of 250 rupees just like in Zelda 1. This will make the players really consider how sparingly they use arrows at the beginning of the game. Especially considering they will need those rupees to buy stuff. (Don't worry though, for dungeons that the bow needs to be used most for I will place enemy's in like Wall/floor masters that drop lots of rupees) 4. I must make it so Arrows are no longer dropped by grass clumps, pots, and ect. 5. Adjusting shop prices to make everything reasonably priced considering the change in wallet sizes that will be made. I won't be able to record, or upload video for some time since my laptop lacks the specs needed to record on screen, though if someone I think I can trust (Someone I've talked to a lot before on here, and/or Skype) wants to record videos showing off new things for ZR, and send them to me, then that would be much appreciated. Edit: Oh yeah, forgot to mention I'll be changing what enemies are damaged by the bow, and how much damage it does for some enemies used a lot in the first 3 dungeons.
  24. This is awesome, I mean yeah, I'll be sticking to N64 OoT hacking, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want to play anyone elses awesome 3DS OoT mods
