This is merely a template to show how game reviews should be posted on The GCN. Simply copy all the content within the code tags, and then adjust accordingly. (Image should be no bigger than 300x300) Director: <Name of Game Director> Producers: <Name of Game Producer/s> Music: <Name of Music Composer/s> Starring: <Name of Voice Actors, If Applicable> Rating: (Use the Rating Score Index as a reference) Plot Give a plot of the game. The best way to do it is to introduce the beginning of the game to where it takes off. Review Give your personal review of the game. This should include a description on music, visuals and story. Additional details are welcome, so long as it's not tl;dr. Overall Provide a quick wrap-up of your review, by giving an overall opinion of it. Note: Ratings can often be quite tricky, considering our way of rating games. However, I'm going to explain that. Now, each half a star is worth 1 on a scale of 10. So, 5 gold stars is a 10/10, 4.5 is 9/10 and so on. There are also two special rating icons that you can use. To simplify it, here's the entire list, as well as the filename to use in the rating image (minus the quotes, of course). Rating Score Index 0/10 - - "cross.png" 1/10 - - "0-5star.png" 2/10 - - "1star.png" 3/10 - - "1-5stars.png" 4/10 - - "2stars.png" 5/10 - - "2-5stars.png" 6/10 - - "3stars.png" 7/10 - - "3-5stars.png" 8/10 - - "4stars.png" 9/10 - - "4-5stars.png" 10/10 - - "5stars.png" 11+/10 - - "platinum.png" The cross is reserved for games that are downright atrocious, and nobody in their right mind should want to play. The Platinum 5-stars are reserved for games that are not done justice by a simple 5-gold stars. Anyway, now that you know how to do this, I hope we'll be seeing some more reviews.
You may have noticed that you can't create a new topic in this area. This is due to the tutorial system automatically creating the official support topic for said tutorial. You will still be able to reply to the official support topics as normally possible in other topics though, to provide feedback and get support. To create a tutorial, simply use the Tutorials System. However, before you do, you should take a few things into consideration. In addition to these guidelines, the community Terms of Service must also be adhered to. When using the tutorials system, please ensure that you: place your tutorial in the correct category.
If your tutorial is to provide gaming codes, such as cheats, please place it in the "Codes" category.
All other tutorials are to be placed within the category labeled "The GCN".
[*]provide all information as accurately as possible. [*]list all sources used to obtain this information and give credit where due. [*]not use massive images in your tutorials. Thank you.

Shadow Fire added a topic in NewsTotal UpgradeFirst of all, I would like to apologise for the length of time it took to upgrade the community. As it turns out, there were errors in the database which hindered the upgrade from being expedited. Thankfully though, it was finally able to be done.
There will be a few bugs here and there, and it may take a while to get used to how everything looks/handles, but hopefully things will be good.
IMPORTANT!: Login information is set to Display Name, so for example, if you logged in with zelda123 and your display name was Princess Zelda, you must now use the latter to log in.

Shadow Fire added a topic in Gaming News NetworkSatoru Iwata Passes Away At 55It is in great sadness that I report the death of Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata.
A short statement released by Nintendo reads the following:
It was known that he was forced to skip last year's E3 due to his poor health, and had to undergo surgery in order to remove the growth, but sadly, it returned, to claim his life.
We will never forget you, Iwata-sama.

Shadow Fire added a topic in NewsPossible Absence - Tropical CycloneI just wanted to let the community know that as of the time of this post (12:55 AM, AEST), Severe Tropical Cyclone Marcia is just off the coast of Queensland. It is expected to hit category 5 by landfall in a few hours time, and will be heading south. By the time it gets to me, it's predicted to have already reduced to a tropical low, but we're still expected to get some very strong winds. I may end up losing power, so there may be some absence from me.
Ah, the joys of living in a tropical environment.

Shadow Fire added a topic in Gaming News NetworkNintendo Direct - Japanese Majora's Mask 3DSo, because they decided to give more of a tease, NoJ decided to showcase 16 minutes of Majora's Mask 3D gameplay. The narration and game are both in Japanese, but that doesn't make it any less epic. Here's the video.
So, are you as excited for the game as I am?

Shadow Fire added a topic in Gaming News NetworkMajora's Mask Coming to 3DS in Spring 2015If you love The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask anywhere near as much as I do (which is quite possible, lol), you will be excited to know that Nintendo have finally listened to their fans, and are working on a 3DS/2DS remake of the beloved title. Majora's Mask 3D is set to release in Spring 2015 (autumn 2015 for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere).
In an announcement via Nintendo Direct, Satoru Iwata stated "As we worked on the remake version, we set out to maintain the original level of challenge, while keeping the game accessible for anyone. So we also focused on making sure the gameplay experience was as smooth as possible."
I don't know about you, but this has me very excited. Majora's Mask was one of my favourites of the series, offering a probably the biggest replayability (discounting OoT3D's boss and gauntlet modes, of course). I'm pumped to see how they go with it. Will they base it on the Japanese original and make it its original difficulty, or will they follow the path of the US/EU release? Regardless, they should now be able to do away with the interrupt save feature altogether, since we can just enter sleep mode on the 3DS.
Finally, here's the trailer:

Shadow Fire added a topic in NewsGift ShopCome one, come all! The GCN Gift Shop is open for business!
Would you like to have yourself a GCN branded t-shirt or accessory? Well, just in time for Christmas, you can do just that. These items are made to order thanks to our friends at the Spreadshirt team and are shipped out within one-two days of the order being placed. Here is an example of a recommended item:
As you can see, this particular shirt sports the official GCN logo on the front, while the back is customisable. When the order is made, you have the option to change the text on the back. USERNAME can be the name you use here, while the 00 is best made your user ID number (which can be found by looking at your profile link). A variety of t-shirt colours are at your disposal, so if black isn't your favourite, you can change the colour, though be certain that the colour scheme matches to the design.
Also available are items such as pinnable buttons, mugs, glasses, and hoodies, though we likely will be expanding to other products. The best news is that a commission from each sale is put into maintaining the community, so by making a purchase, you are giving back to the community.
To see our full range of items, click on the Gift Shop link at the top of the site, or visit http://the-gcn.spreadshirt.com, and get yourself an officially branded product.

Shadow Fire added a topic in NewsSome slight cosmetic tweaks...You may or may not have noticed, but there have been a few slight cosmetic tweaks performed here at The GCN.
I've modified the user group icons, because the previous ones looked like crap, lol. I've also made some slight edits to the Terms of Service. Some of them were worded a little bit iffy, so I updated them, as well as using a different font. If anyone can correctly identify it, I'll give you a cookie. =P I recommend you take a look at them, just in case you need a refresher.
On top of that, I have added a new profile field, for Nintendo Network ID. Basically, if you have a Wii U, you will have a NNID, so there's a field for that, should you want to share it.
I have also changed two of the user group names:
δελτοιδ has been changed to Deltazoid. I was originally planning on calling the group Betazoid, but considering it's the name of a Star Trek race, I figured I shouldn't. =P
Banned has been changed to Exiled. In addition, anyone who has been exiled will find themselves unable to return to the community, and instead, will find themselves experiencing something different.
So for now, that's it. I'm also working on trying to get some community gaming organised, though with the timezone differences, it may be a bit tricky.

Shadow Fire added a blog entry in Gamer ChroniclesFinal Fantasy XIV: A Realm RebornSo yeah, I've been playing Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn a fair bit lately, even to the point of purchasing it for my brother so we can both play. My character, Dash Illianaro, created by my brother and I before I bought his copy, is currently being raised in the art of the Lancer, having already obtained Level 30 in Marauder, 15 in Conjurer, 13 in Thaumaturge, and 10 in Arcanist. Currently, his Lancer prowess is at Level 24, but I will keep playing to get this class to Level 30, so that I may unlock access to the Dragoon job. Anyway, a bit of information about Dash may be nice, so allow me to get into narration mode. Ahem.
As a Lalafell, Dash is quite diminutive in size, standing barely a metre tall. Born on the 6th Sun of the Fourth Umbral Moon into the Dunesfolk, he always expressed a great desire to travel. His adventure began in the sea-side city state of Limsa Lominsa, where he promptly joined the Marauder's guild, to learn how best to wield an axe. During his adventures, he was inducted into a Free Company called the Warriors of Light, who are all fighting to hold back the darkness that would threaten Eorzea. Through many trials and tribulations, Dash managed to defeat the Primal Beast known as Ifrit, and was given the choice of a Grand Company to join. Having visited the desert capital of Ul'dah, as well as the forest nation of Gridania, it was a difficult decision, but ultimately, he decided to join the Order of the Twin Adder, in Gridania, having been compelled by the natural beauty of the nation.
Soon after, he came to possess a chocobo, whom he named Volturis. The two became close, with Volturis suddenly stepping into battle to protect his master, and proving to be an asset to the Lalafell's adventures, in battle and out. He eventually began earning proficiencies in other classes, learning how to cast all kinds of magic, as well as the ability to wield a lance. Through his travels, he met a young Hyur man by the name of Walker Arkwright, the two deciding to work together to enhance their prowess.
So yeah... there you have it. Now, I will leave you with some pics. Enjoy.
